4/5 in Mixmag The first in Hospitals "Classic Symptons" series. Giving both recent converts to the Hospital sound as well as avid collectors the opportunity to delve deep into the NHS archive and pull out some of the more underground masterpieces from the catalogue. Starting as we mean to go on, we’ve dug up two absolute killers which highlight exactly what this series is all about. Making its initial appearance on a strictly limited edition 10" as part of Hospitals first ever "Outpatients" compilation this track remains the only piece of house music released by Mancunian D&B legends Marcus Intalex + ST files. A sublime eight minutes of jackin’ wonderment from the warehouse city - back in the heady days of the early naughties this could be heard ringing out from Old Street to Old Trafford. On the flip comes another hidden gem of genre bending genius - this time from the little known Quartz aka Luke Coltman. Snapped up for the third installment of the now legendary "Plastic Surgery" series this was without doubt one of the highlights of the album. The kind of sonic science which made D&B what it is today - this track tears up the rule book and evolves into an angular techno monster. Look out for the rest of the "Classic Symptoms" series - nine exclusive 12"s dropping over the next three months.
