Kevin Martin fires up his King Midas Sound project again for a full 12" on Hyperdub, no remixes this time, just pure King Midas Sound cuts. It would appear that Martin has reserved the KMS alias for his deeper and more esoteric dub productions, like the echoes of his Bug tracks captured and traced as ghostly drum, bass and atmosphere sketches. 'I Dub' skulks up on us with an intro eerily reminiscent of The Caretaker's ballroom treatments before dropping a billowing bassline reminding us of Can's 'Future Days' and forming a skunky slump rhythm for the smoking crew. 'Ting Dub' includes Roger Robinson's spectral vocals gliding over an assortment of reverbed sirens, warehouse ready reverbs and yet more crackly Caretaker-like textures dragging its weight on a heaving bassline drone. Finally 'Too Long Dub' displays Martin's innate spatial awareness with a rolling slow stepper washed in ephemeral pink noise and filled with mystical voices approaching from deep in the ether. These are pure head tracks ideal for home listening with a you-know-what. Hyperdub killing it!
