‘Fluorescent Adolescent’ is the second single taken from Arctic Monkeys’ ‘Favourite Worst Nightmare’. It’s a real pop anthem which will be on everyone’s lips in the country by August. Following the fastest–selling debut in British chart history, Arctic Monkeys’ ‘Favourite Worst Nightmare’ is a breakneck technicolour journey through screwball punk and guitar-fuelled dancefloor heroics. It’s very, very fast and very, very loud; a brilliant racket boasting some of the strongest songs they’ve ever written. The album’s pop centrepiece and second single, ‘Fluorescent Adolescent’ talks sharply of fishnets and boy-slags and “little books of sextips” and remembering “when you used to be a rascal”. A disco-inflected cousin of ‘Mardy Bum’ with ‘Festival Anthem of 2007’ tattooed all over it in gaudy pink and green. The single is available on digipack CD single as well as heavyweight 7” and 10” vinyl formats. All with spot gloss on the sleeve. 10”, CD and digital download will include 3 new exclusive tracks never released before, mixed and produced by James Ford and Mike Crossey. The lyrical narration is supported by a striking video directed by Richard Ayoade (‘The IT Crowd’, ‘Nathan Barley’, ‘The Mighty Boosh’), starring Stephen ‘Scummy Man’ Graham (‘Snatch’, ‘This Is England’, ‘Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels’) and a rather scary bunch of clowns.
